Clachan cottage has its very own private trout loch 'Mossroddich' which is situated on the outskirts of the village and is available to visitors to the cottage. It is a 6 acre hill loch stocked regularly with both Brown and Rainbow trout and has stunning views over the local countryside.

There are three boats, however, many fishermen enjoy fishing from the hard bottom shallows but waders are advisable. A daily ticket costs £15 and a three fish limit applies, boats are included in the price. There a various other trout lochs in the area all within 30 mins drive to offer a varied choice of venue offering some exciting sport.

Pike fishing is renowned in Galloway especially on Loch Ken which is the venue for many course fishing competitions over the year. Loch Ken is some 11 miles long and tickets are available from various sources, we do however have access to a private stretch of water which is available on request.
